Standing Conference of towns and municipalities (SKGO) with the support of Swiss organization for technical support of SDC organized regional conference on the theme `Local Policies and Health` in Nis Health Center.`Health in all politics` is motto of Standing conference in social activities almost for four years and in the same time represents the mark of all gatherings – said Djordje Stanicic, general secretary of SKGO on the opening of this conference in Nis. We thought that on this occasion we can gather the representatives of towns and municipalities of Serbia, Ministry of Health, city secretariats of health, social policy and demography, institutes and institutions for public health, directors of Health Centers, in other words, all those who are important for keeping and improvement of health of citizens. All together we could find the answer: how to successfully cooperate in the coming period in improving of health of people of local communities, emphasized Stanicic. About the importance of local self governments in creating and implementing policies for health in local partnerships for health – founding local health councils, participants of the conference spoke Dubravka Racic Saranovic, assistant of the Minister in Ministry of health and about the authorizations of local self governments in the sphere of health – inter-sector approach, Jasmina Tanasic, secretary of the Board for social affairs, SKGO.
The representatives of Palilula Municipality on this seminar were Zlatko Semic, member of Municipal Council and Sanja Milenovic, representative of Municipal Administration – President Cabinet.
On the first of four planned conferences on health that were organized in Nis it was also suggested the forming of local councils for health in the form of working body of local self government. This working and counseling bodies were made of key factors in the sectors of health, education, social protection, non governmental sector and local self government. With their cooperation and active participation in the community significantly will be increased and improved the quality of local policies for health. Up to the end of this month about local policies and health will be also discussed in Kragujevac, Novi Sad and Belgrade.
